One Moment at a Time

I ‘m in a relationship with a young lady who is not in the program. She doesn’t use any drugs or alcohol. Its hard to find balance though, as she doesn’t fully understand what 12 step programs do for me. Recovery from drug addiction is an ongoing process. I skip commitments and time with those I help in order to spend time with her. the problem is that if I’m not taking care of myself well, I’m in no position to be with someone else. Today I’m working moment by moment, staying in the present, and not trying to figure out where our relationship is going. Hopefully I can come closer to the ever-elusive “balance.”
