Daily Mindfulness 10/15/12 – Right Effort

We often practice mindfulness through breathing techniques, pausing when agitated, or when our thoughts go astray, but how often do we practice mindfulness of our efforts?  Are we utilizing our full potential today?  Are we using our energy to its fullest, and in the right areas?

Right Diligence encompasses a few things.  First,  we must be mindful of our efforts, and where we are placing them.  We only have so much energy in any given day, and must use it wisely.  In our actions and thoughts, we must investigate where we are putting our energy.  Many of us spend a lot of energy in anxiety, fear, resentment, and trying to control.  Is our energy not better put toward loving each moment?  With our actions, we may waste energy all day long.  Practicing mindfulness, our actions are performed with Right Diligence.  We also must ask ourselves if we are putting the right amount of energy into the right things throughout the day.
