Daily Mindfulness 10/3/12 – Respect

Mindfulness helps us practice respect for ourselves, others, and the world around us.  When we practice mindfulness, we see the interdependence of the world around and within us.  Seeing others as separate is a formation of our mind.  When we recognize the interdependence of the entire universe, we treat everything around us with unconditional respect (including ourselves).

Practicing mindfulness, we may find a love and tolerance that we were unaware of.  Rather than react with intolerance toward other people or situations, we are able to understand that things are happening exactly how they are supposed to, and we see our powerlessness over them.  As we practice mindfulness we feel when we are irritated and/or in our own will, and see how our feelings are creations of our own distorted perceptions.
